(4) This charge is not correct in that I had no order from the Colonial Surgeon forbidding me to have Alcoholic liquor on the premises, I had an order from Dr. Lowson to that effect which I admit having disobeyed. (5) I have not been unfit for duty except on two occasions once I was suffering from a very severe attach of dyspepsia, on another I was suffering

from fever, on both occasions I was admitted to the hospital and on both

occasions I remained there one week.

With reference to the order mentioned in

Charge No. 4. I would respectfully beg to draw the attention of the

Government to the lonely and monotonous life that a Lunatic attendant

leads more especially in Hong-Kong, and considering that I have been

on many occasions without an assistant, when I have had to sonsider

myself on duty day and night, at such times I consider it quite reason

able to take a little stimulant.

In refering to the evidence of Wong

Hing His statement that I said the patient was trying to hang herself

is not true. What I did say was has this girl made any further attempt to hang herself. Further Wong Hing did not ask me for the key the amah

came to me for it, I told her, as I had often done before, that she ought

not to leave her key in the door, either inside or outside, it is a very

bad practice.

With regards to Mckillops evedence I was

not in his room as stated at 7 p. m. and 11 p. m. but at 6 p. m. for about

10 minutes only.
